The Island of Cumbrae will be hosting their 2nd annual emergency services open day on Sunday July 21.

The event will be held in the grounds of Garrison House in Millport from 12 noon till 4pm.

Organisers say it will be like 'a scene out of a movie' given the amount of emergency appliances on view in such a small community.

Amongst some of the services attending will be Scottish Fire and Rescue service from Millport, showcasing their latest firefighting equipment and rapid response vehicle.

Also present will be HM Coastgaurd Cumbrae, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, NYPD Car Hire Scotland, British Transport Police, Fire and Rescue Heritage Trust, Trossachs Search & Rescue with Spock the Collie plus many many more.

Cumbrae Community Radio Station are hosting the event.

Retained firefighter Stevie Muir, who is radio station manager, said: "The event which showcase the amazing work our emergency services do within our community

"Our first event last year saw over 1500 visitors to Cumbrae for this event

"Most visitors to Cumbrae do not realise that we have a fire station with two appliances, police station, hospital, coastguard, helicopter landing pad should a helicopter be required for additional resources, and several Ambulances available 24/7.

"This event not only shows the services on the island but also the services that are available in the instance they are required from the mainland."

"It will provide an abundance of safety information to the public as well as family entertainment.

"We also have weather permitting Garrison Funfair which has three bouncy castles, hook a duck, swings and dodgems.

"It's a day out not to be missed. "
