LARGS Live returned with a bang over the weekend as revellers escaped the thunder and downpours to enjoy some cracking music in the town's bars and restaurants.

News photographer John Keachie captured the action as organisers hailed the event a resounding hit.

The festival got off to a flying start on Friday night with The Upbeats' live performance in Lounge.

The Largs Academy band, run by music principal Craig Smith, proved popular alongside old favourites such as Chanty Dyke with Elvis Presley back in the building at The Waterside.

Papa Booch and the Amigos rocked around the town at JG Sharps and Room, while Angela Duncan in The Three Reasons covered some classic tunes.

Other highlights included Mr Onkel in The George, Dave Trott in Cafe Guzzi, Kirsty and Harlow in Drouthy Neebors, and No Contract in MacAulays.

The atmosphere was electric - inside and out- with live performances at Tron Place also popular.

Ian Murdoch of Largs Events said: "It has been very successful and people have had a great time. We hope next year will be bigger and better!"

Stephen McDonald, of Lounge in Largs, said: "It has been a terrific weekend. Everything has gone very well."
