Talented singers from across the generations came together to provide important food thought during a big musical jamboree in Largs.

LAOS Voices and LAOS Young Voices presented a Summer Showcase in Clark Memorial Church on Saturday 15 June.

Musical Directors, Chris Kelly and Ailie Austin had put together a programme of medleys from well-known West End shows. Largs Amateur Operatic Society wanted to raise funds to support Largs Food Bank.

Voices and Young Voices entertain local groups and are members of Largs Amateur Operatic Society, who recently performed Sister Act in Barrfields Pavilion Theatre to five sell-out audiences.

Clark Memorial Church has been recently remodelled and offered an excellent performance space for the performers who were accompanied by Judith McNaught (Pianist), and the band of Gregor Keachie (Keyboard), Grant Walsh (Guitar) and Michael McGinty (Drums).

Musical numbers from 'The Greatest Showman' opened the show, with solos from John Scott, David Cameron, Vikki Graham and Abby Hennessy.

Young Voices then took the floor with their selection from 'Annie'. Soloists were Lara Connick, Julia Coulthard and Jaqueline Teaz. The medley from 'Miss Saigon' was all new material. Soloists were Elizabeth Graham, Martin Graham, Vikki Graham, John Scott and Sarah Dillon. The Young Voices provided an excellent conclusion to the first half with songs from 'Matilda'. Emily Turner, Zaki Aron, Rachael McCulloch, Ella McPake, Caleb Smith, Cecelia Melgaard, Eva Keogh, Laurie Smith and Murray Arneil all sang solos during the set.

The second half opened with 'Wicked'. The soloists were Morag Robertson, Gemma Wardrop, Ailie Austin and Star Penders. This was followed by a section from ABBA. Soloists Abby Hennessy, Frazer MacPhail, Donna Laing and Sarah Dillon were joined by both Voices and Young Voices. The finale to the Summer Showcase was a medley from 'The Lion King'. Voices sang Shadowland, while the youngsters took the lead for The Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, Just Can't Wait to be King and He lives in You. Soloists were David Cockerill, Anya Milligan, Ella McPake and Rachel Fleming.

LAOS Voices and LAOS Young Voices would like to thank all those who came to the Summer Showcase. Their support was much appreciated.

A cheque for £500 was presented to Largs Foodbank.
