Following the triumphant 50th anniversary concert given last Sunday by the St Maura Singers ,the last three events of the main summer season in the Cathedral of The Isles will be given by world-class virtuoso performers.
On Sunday 11 August Mark Viner comes to the Cathedral to give a full-length recital of piano music by Liszt and two of his great rivals Alkan and Thalberg.
Mark's Recital will begin as usual at 3pm, but divide into two halves, each lasting about 45 minutes. Coffee and cakes will be available at the interval in the Cloisters. Mark's recent recordings of Chaminade, Thalberg and Liszt have been given "rave" reviews in the musical press. An event not to be missed.
A week later on August 18th there will be a visit from the liveliest virtuoso organist of our time- Gordon Stewart.
To close the main season, it is a return from Jonathan Cohen, a great friend of the Cathedral and its music, on August 25th.
