SIX talks from West Kilbride residents and visitors take place on Saturday 17 August in West Kilbride.

Microtalks at the Barony in West Kilbride are special six-minute talks on any subject.

This weekend speakers include a local historian, a junior film star, an ornithologist and celebrated photographer.

West Kilbride speakers include movie actor Noah Graham who will talk about his starring role in an award-winning film and engineering design graduate Sarah Davies while Lillian Brookes will share the story of suffragette, philanthropist and West Kilbride resident Jane Arthur.

The talks are organised by local voluntary group Creative Works.

Creative Works and Microtalks volunteer Jeni Lennox said: “Microtalks are six-minute stories with 20 pictures that give a quick glimpse into the extraordinary experience and knowledge of our neighbours.

“We have six speakers at each event; anyone can speak on any subject and we love having volunteers approach us with their stories.

“Ideally, we look for a good mix of local superheroes including a young person when we can and include a visiting speaker at each session.

“We try to encourage people from all walks of life and all ages to contribute - our youngest speaker to date was nine and our oldest in his 70s.”

The talks take place from 4 to 5 pm at the Barony Centre in West Kilbride.
