FAIRLIE'S eagerly anticipated gala day promises to be a fun-filled weekend to round off the summer.

The event will take place this weekend at Fairlie Community Gardens, and once again has a packed schedule for the whole family to enjoy.

Royal appointments include youngsters Shaun Roddie and Grace Craigmile, this year's king and queen.

As well as kicking off the super hero fancy dress parade, Shaun and Grace will lead the way to the gardens from Allanton Park Terrace at 12.30pm before officially opening this year's gala at 1pm.

Committee chair Mick Carr said: "The gala this year will be the usual mix of kids' entertainment, including a climbing wall, assault course, bungee trampolines and giant slide.

"We also have face painting, a bottle stall, bar, music and much more. Weather permitting, we also intend to have the raft race on the Saturday too.

"For the adults we will have our very successful vintage tea room and our bar with real ales and cider, as well as a special selection of gin cocktails available.

"Our barbecue will be providing burgers and other hot treats throughout the day and into the early evening.

"As for the musical aspect, we have the ever popular Skelmorlie Skanks headlining for us in the evening from around 7.30pm.

"Prior to that we will have music from Fairlie Primary Choir, Robbie Quin, LAOS junior and senior choirs and Wendy McAuslan.

"Sunday will offer a more sedate afternoon with folk music provided by local band Hingin' by a Threed from around 2pm.

"The bar and barbecue will once again be open on the Sunday and any other folkies who fancy coming along for a jam will be made more than welcome."
