It’s Flower Show Time as one of the longest running horticultural events on the west coast of Scotland.

Showcasing around 400 entries, it really is the cream of the crop!

Local growers, flower arrangers, handi-crafters, bakers and children have been busy preparing their exhibits for Largs Flower Show which is being held on Saturday 25 August at 10am-4.30pm in Dunn Memorial Hall, St John’s Church, Bath Street, Largs.

It is a real sight to behold a promises to be a fantastic feast of colour, scent and local talent.

On show will be a wide variety of pot plants including fuchsias, begonias, hanging baskets and tubs; cut flowers; vegetables, fruit and herbs; floral art; handicrafts; baking, preserves and honey.

The ever popular Junior section is a must see with miniature gardens, fruit and veg animals, flower arrangements and handicrafts – you will be amazed at the children’s creativity and imagination and it’s sure to bring a smile to your face.

There will be mini Viking Figures made from flowers, greenery and other natural materials on display as the kids compete for the coveted Viking Festival trophy in the festival class and some beautifully arranged Junior Decorative Floral Cup Cakes and Floral Bags – a new class for this year.

The local primary schools have been working hard on their special container challenge this year.

They were given the raw ingredients of a container, compost and plants and asked to create their very own customised school patio container together with a collage on “Sustaining Our World”.

The ever popular stalls of the raffle and tombola will be there – special thanks to all the local businesses that have supported this.

The tea-room will be open from 10am until 3.30pm and will be serving refreshments, home-baking and filled rolls for lunch.

There will also be a stall selling home baking and tablet, home-made lemonade, and bees-wax candles.

Largs Viking Festival will be there with some festival gifts and to let people know what’s on during the festival.

Fuchsias and Geraniums – come along and pick up some hints and tips from Christine.

Taste the Difference – can you tell the difference between home grown and shop bought? Come and give our stall a try.

Free Workshops for Children - Largs Flower Club will be doing free Flower Workshops for Children from 10.30am to 3.30pm.With something for everyone Largs Flower Show is sure to brighten up your day – so come along and enjoy! The local gardeners, crafters, floral artists and children will be there. It’s the ideal time to pick up some gardening/growing tips.

It is 177 years since the very first Flower Show was held in Largs and it is still blooming today.

Exhibitors - Adult and Children: You still have time to enter the show, you don’t need to be experienced, pick up a schedule at the Library or go online to our website www.largshorticultural.org.uk and have a look to see what you can enter and bring your entries to the hall from 2.00pm until 6.15pm on FRIDAY 24 AUGUST prompt (judging starts at 6.30pm). Help is on hand to stage them.
