A TALENTED West Kilbride duo are teaming up to perform at the Vertex Festival in aid of research into Parkinsons.

David and Irene McCulloch have been playing together for over 30 years and will be performing on Saturday September 21 at 2.30pm in the Village Hall.

Inspired by Irene's yoga teacher Angela McHardy to support 'Research in to Parkinson's Disease' they are welcoming as many people to come along and donate to the cause.

Angela has set up her own thriving yoga studio and travelled Europe speaking about her own experiences living with Parkinson's.

Irene said: "The charity was chosen because of Angela, who teaches here in the village.

"She is an amazing woman and she constantly conquers her condition by focusing on her yoga. She is an inspiration to her classes.

"The concert, I hope, will in a small way help to fund vital research into her condition and show her we care.

"Our aim is to try and get as many people along to the event as possible so we can give as much as we can to the charity."

In the past seven years, since moving to West Kilbride, the McCulloch's have been playing in venues up and down Ayrshire most weeks.

As well as floor spots at various folk clubs, they have hosted four major sell out concerts in West Kilbride.

As part of the Vertex Festival, Irene and David will perform an intimate set that will focus on songs reflective of today’s diversity of Scottish influenced music and song, from traditional folk ballads to more contemporary material.

The session will also include original songs that delve into the rich heritage of West Kilbride.
