Police have confirmed a man's body has been recovered from the River Clyde at the Erskine Bridge.

The Erskine Bridge was closed due to a police incident following concern for a person with emergency services, including Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard, responding.

The northbound carriageway has since reopened with the southbound having one lane running.

A spokesman told The Clydebank Post: "Concerns were raised shortly before 11am and the man was recovered following a search involving Police Scotland, SFRS and the Coastguard.

"Erskine Bridge has now reopened and motorists are thanked for their patience."

It is not believed that anyone else was involved.
