A bogus caller has been arrested in Largs after attempting to steal money from pensioners.

The rogue workman made off with a cash sum from Rankin Drive.

However, he called in at another property in Brisbane Road leading to suspicions from house owners who contacted the police.

Sergeant Sharon Kerr said: "Bogus callers have been quite prevalent in the division, and in the north coast area including Largs.

"Work had been offered but nothing was carried out after a historic offence which was carried out in Rankin Drive

"And similarly, another such incident happened in Brisbane Road last month in which a man was identified, and subsequently apprehended."
