Staff at Hunterston B power station showed their support for veterans in the run up to Armistice Day by inviting veterans to a Heroes Lunch.
Residents of the veterans’ home, Erskine, came to the site for the special occasion with the power plant staff holding a collection for the charity.
Three residents from the Bishopton home visited the power station to meet staff and have a special meal.
Anna Porterfield (95), John Wheeler (93) and Barry Hutchison (83) had a Heroes Lunch of steak pie followed by cake and custard cooked up by former serviceman Jim Lyons, one of the chefs for on-site catering company Aramark.
Members of the Civil Nuclear Constabulary also supported the visit by joining the welcoming party on site.
The site also held a charity collection to coincide with their visit with generous staff raising a fantastic £1187.16 for Erskine.
Site head of security Neil Hutchinson, who is ex-forces, arranged the visit and said: “The station supported Erskine last year and were incredibly generous so I thought that this year it would be nice to invite some residents so that people could chat to them and meet some of the people their donations helped to support.
"The residents loved their time on site and I’m delighted that staff were so generous with their donations again this year.”
