Hunterston B power station’s visitor centre has had its five-star Visit Scotland rating confirmed for the sixth year running.

The confirmation came after an assessor praised the “exceptional tour” which “sits comfortably in the standard expected in the 5 star bracket.” Hunterston B is one of only two five-star rated attractions in North Ayrshire.

The ratings focus on the standard of the welcome, hospitality and service provided and show the standard of customer care visitors should expect.

Acting Station Director Paul Forrest said: “This is a great achievement for the visitor centre and I am very proud of the team who have maintained such a high standard over the past six years.

“The visitor centre plays an important role helping to educate people about how nuclear power works and the role it plays in making around a fifth of the UK’s electricity low carbon. The centre and the tour give people the chance to visit the heart of the power station and find out exactly what happens on site.”

Visitor Centre Coordinator, Emma Horne, said: “The guides at the visitor centre are really enthusiastic about the power station and for the sixth year running it has been shown that this comes across in our tours. We work incredibly hard to ensure every visitor who comes through our door is given a warm welcome and leaves feeling well informed.

Tours are free and we cater for individuals as well as groups so I would encourage anyone who has not visited yet to get in touch and book a tour.”

You can visit Hunterston B power station’s visitor centre Monday- Friday between 9 am and 4 pm (except bank holidays). Tours are free but need to be booked in advance. You can book by emailing hunterstonbtours@edf-energy.com
