LARGS Yuletide lit up the town for another evening of festive cheer - just weeks after almost being scrapped.

The Largs Events team rallied to create a Christmas spectacular as families turned out to enjoy an entirely free night of festive fun.

The popular event was saved after a last ditch plea by organisers brought a boost in volunteer numbers.

Despite the race against time to pull the event together, chair of Largs Events Ian Murdoch says it was a night to remember.

He added: "The feedback has been very positive.

"There were so many incredible aspects to the night and I want to thank the public, businesses and volunteers whose were a massive support.

"For the first time this year we managed to get approval to close Aitkin Street and I think it was a great success and something we could look to for other events."

Whilst families enjoyed the performers, 120 tickets were snapped up to see Santa at Nardini's.

Mr Murdoch added: "I hope that everyone had a great evening and enjoyed all of the entertainment we put on.

"I thought it was an absolutely brilliant and socially inclusive event.

"Given the current climate where so many people are using foodbanks it was important to us to make this all free."
