POLICE are investigating reports of a stabbing in a street in Largs.

A man with wrist injuries entered the Day Today store in Nelson Street on December 17 at around 5pm looking for help.

Witnesses told the News they noticed a 'stream of blood' in the street nearby and watched as staff at the premises had to clean it from the entrance area.

The matter was reported to police by a concerned member of the public, Largs Community Council meeting was told.

A police spokeswoman said: "The officers managed to trace the individual concerned but he has not made any report of an assault being made.

"Officers are still carrying out inquiries."
