A long awaited Largs pavement problem is to be fixed on Monday January 27.

Scotland Transerv, who carry out maintenance work on trunk road pavements, have announced that there will be a full pavement closure on Monday while the works take place.

Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson said: "While I am disappointed that the works were unable to be carried out earlier, I am glad that they are taking place this Monday."

Sally Hartley, operating officer for Transerv, explained: "Scotland Transerv will be carrying out footway works in Largs between Bath Street and Crawford Street on the southbound footway.

"Due to the nature of the footway works, the footway will require a full closure between Bath Street and Crawford Street southbound in order to protect the health and safety of our workforce and the travelling public.

"The works had to be cancelled recently due to competing operational arrangements, and have now been reprogrammed to take place on Monday."

Two people suffered from falls in October on the pavement resulting in Transerv carrying out immediate patching repairs to some specific areas, with the full pavement resurfacing issue having been on the cards since then.
