Largs Cronies Burns Club held its 31st Annual Dinner at the Willowbank Hotel recently.

The proceedings were opened with a welcome to members and guests from the Chairman, President Angus Middleton.

Following on from this, Grace was said by Rev Jonathan Fleming. The Haggis was addressed by Renwick Adam, having been piped in by Club Piper, Allan Wilson.

The principal speaker for the evening was Willie Dick, President of New Cumnock Burns Club, who delivered a most entertaining and informative “Immortal Memory” in his distinctive Ayrshire dialect, whilst Past President Robert Honeyman, proposed the “Toast to the Lasses”.

The evening’s entertainment included recitations from Gordon Middleton (Burns Anniversary and Tam O'Shanter) and Jimmy Law (John Barleycorn), and singers, Willie Menzies and Rev Bill Armstrong, accompanied by Rev Jonathan Fleming, entertained us with a varied selection of Burns’ songs.

The Secretary, Brian Jackson, read the fraternal greetings received from kindred Burns Clubs and Past President Drew Cochrane proposed the "Toast to the Largs Cronies Burns Club".

The raffle, organised by Club Treasurer, Craig Anderson, raised the sum of £235 which goes towards the Annual Schools' Competition.

A most enjoyable evening was concluded with a "Vote of Thanks" given by Past President Ray Connal, followed by rousing renditions of "The Star of Robbie Burns" and "Auld Lang Syne"
