The area behind the dentist and the Specsavers shop in Main Street has been identified by applicant Alan Neilson for redevelopment.

"Such a design is considered appropriate given the general height and type of buildings on Stanlane Place.

"It allows access for 'four designated parking spaces whilst incorporating pathway accesses to each of the unit main entrances."

Small private garden areas have been incorporated offering additional amenity, with 1.8 metres high close boarded fencing along the boundaries.

The statement adds: "A need for starter, elderly, new build accommodation has been identified for such a town centre location.

"This has been confirmed by the applicant’s recent refurbishment, and sale, of existing residential property in the area and from advice of local estate agents.

"The development meets the recognised needs of the town."

The matter will now be decided by North Ayrshire planning department in the coming weeks.
