MP Patricia Gibson has welcomed the decision of McGill’s Buses to revert to their original timetable for the 904 Largs to Paisley bus service, following a number of complaints from passengers.

The first 904 service of the day was previously scheduled to arrive in Paisley High Street at 8.52am, allowing students to get to university and workers to get to their jobs on time.

However, the timetable changed in August 2019, with the bus arriving in Paisley High Street at 9.10am, forcing workers and students to choose between being late or forking out extra money for alternative transport.

When constituents contacted Ms Gibson to advise of the difficulties they were experiencing, she immediately raised the matter with McGill’s.

Ms Gibson said: “I am glad that in light of my lobbying McGill’s have agreed to revert to their original timetable so that students and workers can arrive on time in Paisley.

“This change caused much inconvenience for my constituents, particularly for commuters.

“Buses are a lifeline for many in rural areas who do not have access to a car, and it is essential that we have cheap, reliable services available for those who need them.

“I also raised passenger concerns about the quality of the buses used on this route and am pleased that McGill’s have stated they will introduce new vehicles for the 904 service this year.”

The timetable is set to revert to its original scheduling on 30 March 2020.
