A TALENTED young actor from West Kilbride considers himself at home on stage in LYT's biggest ever production.

Bruno Cowan, 10, is taking on the lead role in Oliver! at Barrfields on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February.

The West Kilbride Primary School pupil has been working with LYT's cast of adults and young people in rehearsals for months.

And now he's ready to help the cast serve up a show that will leave the audience wanting more.

Bruno said: "I was ecstatic when I found out and very surprised. I worked on the song Where is Love? for my audition. I've really enjoyed working alongside the adults and I've met really cool people.

"I'm really excited to be part of LYT's biggest ever show."

The song and dance extravaganza is directed by Laura Edison with musical direction from Chris Kelly.

An adult principal cast - which includes many familiar faces from Largs Players and Largs Amateur Operatic Society - will be supported by more than 40 local youngsters.

Alongside Bruno as Oliver, Largs Primary School pupil Derren Milligan, 11, will be taking on the role of Dodger.

Derren said: "I have lots of lines to remember and Dodger talks quite fast. I've been up until 10pm three nights a week.

"I'm really looking forward to the shows. I love bringing Dodger to life on stage. He's a really fun character."

The role of Fagin will be played by Andy Park and Sian Campbell will be Nancy.

Performances take place at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday, and there is a matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm.
