West Kilbride Horticultural Society’s first show of the year takes place on Saturday 21 March in the Village Hall.

There are two special classes this year celebrating Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters - one for a miniature garden with a specific coastal theme, and a class for a postcard-sized stitched picture with a coastal story idea.

Details are in the show schedule available from the D & B Gallery, Library, Village Hall, Barony Centre and local shops.

Classes include floral decoration, pot plants, shrubs, novelty items etc and also hobbies and handicrafts. Among these are knitting, sewing, beadwork, photographs and paintings. There are separate children’s classes, including a vegetable/fruit animal, miniature garden, decorated egg plus many more. There will also be the school children’s daffodils grown from the bulbs given to them by the society last October
