World Day of Prayer is taking place at Largs and Millport on 6 March.

The Church of Nazarene in Aitken Street, Largs, is holding a service at 10am, followed by another service at The Cathedral of the Isles at 2pm.

Throughout this services, written this year by women of Zimbabwe, there will be stories which reflect their history and situation today and are invited in this year’s theme to ‘Rise, take your mat and walk.’

A church spokeswoman Hilary Moran said: " It is an ecumenical service. This service will occur all over the world on this day, so this is a huge movement of people.

"We would love to see some new faces this year at this service, which is always a very interesting and thought provoking service."

"World Day of Prayer is for everyone. Prayer and action link us together around the globe. A warm welcome awaits you at your local service."
