Young people who are eligible for free school meals or a school clothing grant will receive a weekly food package for them and their families in the weeks ahead.
North Ayrshire Council announced that following the government’s decision to close schools in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, packages will be delivered to the child’s home which includes lunch recipes and ingredients. Eligible families must opt-in to the scheme by contacting the council’s facilities management team on 01294 324699 and 324759 or emailing FacilitiesManagementTeam@north-ayrshire.gov.uk with name, address and telephone number.
All secondary schools will be open from Monday for pupils in S4-S6 to complete coursework, with free food provided at break and lunch.
