A local councillor has warned the public to make sure that they are social distancing when visiting Largs.

It comes after concerns were raised with the 'News' in relation to big crowds on Largs seafront on Saturday afternoon.

Labour councillor Alex Gallagher said: "It is important that people keep 2m away - vulnerable groups have been told to self-isolate.

"The general public will be told to self isolate if the situation gets much worse.

"We very quickly need to think our actions very soon or we could be facing what has happened in Italy.

"Latest figures show the Coronavirus is spreading quicker in the UK than it did in Italy

"The Scottish Government and the council have issued a number of guidelines which are available online and it is important that people follow these instrucitons closely."
