Largs based MSP Jamie Greene has warned people not to duped into giving over their personal bank details over the phone to unsolicited text, emails or calls.
It comes after some parents have received an email stating: ‘As schools will be closing, if you're entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we'll make sure you're supported’.
Jamie said: "This is a scam email - do not respond, and delete immediately.
"There are a few dodgy scams going around at the moment as sickeningly some criminals see this as an opportunity.
"Please, whatever the nature of the enquiry, do not give your bank or card details out willynilly in response to a link in an unsolicited text, email or phone call."
