Everyone is being encouraged to provide a show of support to our NHS health and care staff this evening.

The Largs 'Help at Hand' group is encouraging the community to give 'wild applause' to show our tremendous support and appreciation for all, working tirelessly under unparalleled pressures in the sector, at 8pm.

The public is being asked to honour nurses and other NHS staff tonight, in praise of their work to save lives during the COVID-19 emergency.

In a gesture of thanks to health service workers, people have been invited to join a mass round of applause from doorsteps, windows and balconies at 8pm.

The organisers of the Clap For Our Carers campaign said the event is being staged because ‘during these unprecedented times, they need to know we are grateful’.

The UK is taking its lead from other European countries in lockdown, where people have gathered nightly at their balconies and windows to cheer and applaud healthcare staff.
