Contingency plans are in place to ensure homes and businesses in Largs and district maintain their electricity supply throughout the coronavirus crisis.

Eelectricity distributor SP Energy Networks are introducing special measures to protect supply during these uncertain times.

The measures are developed by SP Energy Networks alongside other network operators, the government and electricity regulator Ofgem.

Rapid installation of new connections will take place support the containment of COVID-19 including connections for hospitals, care and nursing homes, and food supply chain business.

SP Energy Networks have also made a commitment to continue any critical maintenance that secures the resilience of the electricity network to keep the power flowing – prioritising power cuts and urgent safety issues.

The electric company has already established social distancing measures and rolled out additional processes for critical frontline operational staff and control centre teams.
