New grants for self-employed to support them over the next three months has been welcomed by economy chief Alex Gallagher.
The Chancellor announced new measures on which will enable self-employed people to apply for the safety net.
This scheme will allow you to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of your trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next three months, and maybe extended if needed.
Councillor Alex Gallagher, Cabinet Member for Economy, said: “It had obviously been a massive concern.
“Self-employed people were in a difficult situation so this provides them with a degree of comfort during these extremely worrying times.
"Their health and that of their family should be the absolute priority.
"They don’t need the added worry or burden of worrying about where the next pay cheque is coming from.
“We would urge them all to read up thoroughly on the information provided and apply at the earliest opportunity.”
