THIS was the inspiring message of hope from little Aria Connolly which she sent to her gran in Largs.

Rainbow images have been popping up in households in Largs, Millport, Fairlie and West Kilbride too as kids are get creative during their time at home to show their appreciation for our key workers.

Aria's smile lit up the internet this week as the nation again applauded our NHS and health care workers last Thursday evening at 8pm.

The colourful rainbow designs in support of the NHS and frontline staff have been endorsed by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, with the Scottish Parliament's St Andrew's House being lit up in rainbow colours each weekend.

Gran Leesa, who lives in The Roundel in Largs, said: "It was such a lovely thing for my granddaughter to send me,

"Aria and her mum Laura recently moved to Skelmorlie, and because of the current situation, they have had to stay away. I miss them terribly but this photo put a big smile of my face.

"It was Aria's birthday last week and I couldn't go to see here, which felt very strange. I think Aria has been inspired by the sense of community spirits and she says she wants to make a rainbow for everyone in the family.

"She is due to start at Skelmorlie Primary in August.

"Like other children, she is very active so to be shut in the house is a challenge but she loves drawing, so it is great that children all over and creating these rainbow to inspire others.

"It is lovely to see and it is good to hear that even the First Minister is a supporter of the idea.

"The rainbow idea is an easy thing to do as children have paints, crayons and paper in the house - and that is all they really need to have some fun and to send a message to lift all of our spirits."
