Largs based MSP Jamie Greene has welcomed steps being taken to look towards the easing of lockdown at the end of this month.

With recycling centres set to open in June, sports such as tennis and golf with strict rules and social distancing in place looks set to return as has happened south of the border.

Jamie said: "I’d like to thank everyone for their patience during what has undeniably been a difficult time for everyone. Although we’re still at an early stage, it’s encouraging to hear today that Scotland can now begin to look at easing some of the lockdown restrictions at the end of May.

“There are still many unanswered questions regarding how this easing will work, and I’ll be calling on the Scottish Government to clarify its position as soon as possible. Following the decision to loosen some of the lockdown restrictions south of the border, it’s clear that Scotland and the rest of the UK are making significant strides in our fight against this pandemic as we move at a similar pace.

“I welcome the announcement from Matt Hancock that anyone over the age of 5 can now be tested and that the Scottish Government has decided to implement the same measures.

"As our ability to trace the virus will be paramount over the coming months it is vital that Scotland ramps up its recruitment to ensure that we can effectively track and monitor the spread of Coronavirus.”
