THE COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown has presented a testing time for us all including residents, their families and the team at Hutton Park Care Home in Largs.

The incredible outpouring of support from the local community has brought a great amount of joy to everyone at Hutton Park.

The team have been delighted to receive donations of PPE and hand sanitiser from individuals and companies, including our local first responders, Saturn Sails and the Scottish Film and Theatre.

They have also received gifts of cupcakes from Morrisons and hand creams and moisturisers from Inspiring Scents.

The Hutton Park team continue to work around the clock to keep everything as normal as possible for residents. The abundance of phone calls, video calls and even visits to chat over our fence (observing social distancing) have helped to make residents feel connected, loved and cared for.

Hutton Park Manager Margaret Fyfe says she is grateful for the support received.

Margaret said: “I want to thank all the residents and their families for their continued support during this difficult time. My team have been nothing short of fabulous and I am very proud of them all.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us in what have been exceptionally difficult circumstances.

“We are working hard to keep everything as normal as possible for residents, and continue to provide the high levels of care as expected of our home.

"Throughout this time we have been continuing to welcome enquiries and safely admit new residents to our home, as isolation, loneliness and potential irregularity in care provision due to social distancing and lockdown restrictions have only increased the need for our support.

"We have processes in place to safely admit new residents, who are each tested for COVID-19 prior to admission and must have a negative result before coming in.

“We will continue to make the health and well-being of our residents and staff a top priority and make the most of these unprecedented times. When the lockdown eases we have no idea what may lie ahead but we do know one thing - we are all in this together.”
