Largs based MSP Jamie Greene has called on the Scottish Government to urgently clarify its guidance for teachers returning to school in the coming weeks.

This comes after the 95% of teachers in a Scottish survey want evidence that Covid-19 infection is under control and that schools are safe places before they reopen in any way.

A total of 93% of respondents said more clarity is needed over how teaching will be delivered to pupils.

The survey which spoke to 26,000 Scottish teachers found that nearly two-thirds said they believed that the biggest barrier to home learning was lack of access to technology.

Scotland’s schools have been closed for two months as part of the Government strategy to suppress covid-19.

Across Scotland, parents are having to combine home working with ensuring their children are receiving an education.

Currently schools are set to go back on August 11th as a key part of the plan to ease lockdown. Pupils will receive a ‘blend’ of classroom and home education.

Jamie Greene commented:“It’s vital that the government publishes clear and appropriate guidance on what measures teachers should take to ensure young people return to a safe environment.

"Teachers will need further guidance on how this blended approach will work.

"We must make sure this is consistent across schools and reflects the needs of children and teachers."
