Important drainage works on a field to the north of Largs just beyond the boundary are being carried out.
Readers have contacted the News wondering what was happening at the site.
David Carnduff of Inverkip said: "I see there is land clearance going on at the north side of the town. A big reedbed has been completely cleared."
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch explained: "I have had a few calls over this - it is just the farmer improving the drainage at the site.
"The field is normally quite boggy and full of weeds.
"It is good news. I have spoken to the farmer and he is fixing the drainage at the field which will also, in turn, help the A78 as it quite often floods there during heavy rainfall, and the works being carried out will alleviate that problem."
