CONCERNS have been raised over sewage pouring from a blocked drain near to a popular putting green in Largs.
Resident Archie Burleigh spotted the issue following a thunder and lightning storm and heavy rain.
He said: "At 6am on Friday morning the manhole covers had risen on the approach to the putting green kiosk and toilet block at Mackerston Putting Green in Largs.
"Raw sewage was floating around in the pond on the footpath which was around five inches deep. The toilets are closed.
"The sewage is coming out of the shallow gradient system upstream of the pumping chamber at Sandringham War Memorial green.
"The screens are probably blocked at this station."
The local man alerted Scottish Water to the problem and urged them to send out a team to deal with the issue to avoid a repeat.
He said: "This was posing a hazard to people's health."
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "Having been made aware of the issue caused by heavy rain, a Scottish Water operative attended and carried out a clean-up of the area.”
