The lifeboat have warned dog owners not to risk life and limb and chase their dog into the sea if they are in difficulty.
It comes after an incident on July 21 at 11.30am of a dog in the sea with the owner preparing to enter the water to retrieve his pet.
The RNLI crew were preparing to launch when information was received that the dog was safely ashore.
David Hewitt of Largs Lifeboat said: "The RNLI would strongly advise people not to enter the water to attempt to recover a dog rather contact UK coastguard via the 999 system
for assistance."
