North Ayrshire Council has confirmed that all pupils will return to schools from the week beginning August 10.

Following confirmation of the return to teaching by the Scottish Government, council bosses are finalising details for full reopening in August.

Parents will receive a letter from the council giving general information and guidance, along with a letter specific to each school detailing arrangements.

The director of North Ayrshire Council and the heads of service will also meet with parent council representatives next week to discuss plans.

A range of additional measures will be in place at schools and early learning and childhood centres to ensure enhanced personal hygiene and cleaning regimes will be in operation in all.

Caroline Amos and Andrew McClelland, heads of education service, said: “We understand that you and your child may be anxious about the return to school and we will do all we can to reassure you.

“To ensure you are as informed as possible, we are preparing advice and guidance specifically for parents/carers as well as for children/young people.

“We know that you are keen to know what the final arrangements are and we will get these to you as quickly as possible.”
