A bowling club in Largs is offering free membership to frontline workers for the remainder of 2020.

The move has been confirmed by Largs Halkshill Bowling Club in line with the Bowls Scotland Campaign.

Secretary Alan Rodger said: "We would like to give thanks to every one of our frontline workers for their dedication and perseverance during these difficult times.

"We want to thank them for the early morning shifts, the missed dinners, the not seeing loved ones for days- and we want them to know that everyone within our bowling family is grateful for these sacrifices and for saving lives and helping others.

"We normally think of NHS Staff, police and fire services, but there are many more people involved in supporting us by providing a frontline service during lockdown. It might be the volunteers who supported a food bank or neighbours who shopped for people shielding or isolating.

"Halkshill Bowling Club would like to offer free playing Membership to frontline workers who are not current members of a bowling club for the remainder of the 2020 season."

Any person interested in taking up this offer should contact Largs Halkshill Bowling Club through the Halkshill website www.halkshill.co.uk
