MSP Kenneth Gibson says businesses in the events sector which has missed out on crisis funding can benefit from a new £10m funding package.
Funding streams will be set up to provide direct support to organisers of cultural, community, and sporting events, as well as to supply chain firms facing hardship, to help keep them in business while restrictions on events are still in place. It will also look to increase community engagement, and support adaptations to event delivery to enable a safe restart.
Kenneth Gibson MSP commented: “I look forward to further details of how to apply for funding will being issued.
“Businesses which have not yet been able to access any of the previous government support mechanisms will be prioritised, which will be extremely helpful.”
The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on the events sector and its wider supply chain,
Kenneth added: “Scotland has a track record of planning, delivery and success in events at international, national and local level and this £10 million funding will ensure the sector has a future and that we remain the perfect stage for events.”
