A ROADS campaigner is being driven potty by the the size of a crack in a busy school and local bus network route in Largs.
Archie Burleigh flagged up the pothole problem on Douglas Street at its junction with Brisbane Road with North Ayrshire Council - but has been told it is not deemed an immediate priority.
He said: "I raised in in August and we are now in mid September and there has been no action has been taken.
"I would point out that this route is the most heavily local trafficked road in Largs and is on the school and local bus network.
"Something is obviously wrong with their set up if this is still outstanding.
"I would point out there is a similar sized crack on the carriageway at Alexander Avenue."
However, North Ayrshire Council informed the concerned resident that the road repair is a category 3 which requires a repair within 60 days of initial inspection.
Stewart Walker, Team Leader (Network Management) said: "The fault was recorded by our inspector as a category 3 defect and the timescale for undertaking category 3 repairs is 60 working days from the initial inspection.
"Unfortunately due to the lockdown period earlier this year where routine works could not be undertaken we have a backlog of faults which we are still attempting to catch up with, these faults are being dealt with on a priority basis until the backlog is cleared.
"I cannot give an exact timescale as to when these faults will be repaired, however they have already been highlighted and will be addressed as soon as resources become available."
