NEW bike racks have been installed in Largs Town Centre.

Councillor Ian Murdoch says he answered calls from members of the public for more locations in the town with stances.

The berths have been installed just outside the TSB branch in the Main Street - and have proved popular with cyclists so far.

Councillor Murdoch said: "It is a good wide area with plenty of passing room for pedestrians.

"I have had a lot of constituents contacting me regarding having these in the town centre so now they have arrived I hope that they are well used."

Easing of lockdown has seen scores of cyclists arriving from out of town to enjoy a pit stop and the scenery.

Councillor Murdoch added: "It is good to see and helpful for local businesses.

"We want to encourage more people to cycle in and out of town too and by increasing the number of bike racks we can help that happen."
