The Cumbrae ferry has been suspended for the day after a surge of travellers.
'Hundreds' had been queuing to get aboard at Largs Pier and surrounding area, locals reported.
The above picture shows the high numbers at 11am this morning, a picture which was tweeted to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
A Cal Mac spokesman said: "Due to constrained capacity, day trips to the Isle of Cumbrae have now been suspended for the remainder of the day.
"This does not include island residents."
And at 5.55pm tonight Cal Mac warned that foot passengers faced a one hour wait to depart the island.
