Largs based MSP Jamie Greene has called on residents to make the sacrifices required to bring the country’s increasing coronavirus cases back under control.

The Conservative has praised the actions of North Coast residents for their help in suppressing the virus since March.

He says it is disappointing to take a step in the wrong direction but insists there are positives in the fight against covid-19.

He said: “We now need to make some of those sacrifices again to bring things back under control. This isn’t a full lockdown, but we are going to be giving up some of our newly won freedoms.

“There were some positives coming out of this week; we are making progress in medicines to help treat the virus and could be available, at least in small quantities, in the not so distant future.

“So, whilst we are still a way off, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel that we can all take some comfort in.

“But for now, let’s continue to follow government advice, abide by the new guidance, look out for one-another and do everything we can to beat the Coronavirus.”
