A FAMILY has vowed that the coronavirus pandemic won't put the frighteners on a spooktacular annual transformation of their home.

Giant illuminated scarecrows, howling werewolves and wicked witches are all planned for the Halloween event organised by the Clark family at their property in West Kilbride.

Many had feared the event would be cancelled for safety reasons amid lockdown restrictions, but the creative Clarks have devised an outdoor alternative to their usual indoor frightfest.

Cameron Clark, who runs the event with help from his parents and sisters, says they were convinced to press ahead after being overwhelmed by the interest from the community.

Safety is at the heart of the Witches of Winchester walkthrough.

It is one family per visit with the Clark family intent on providing some spooky fun for the community after a tough year.

Cameron said: "We wanted to give people something to look forward to after such a difficult time.

"We want to thank everyone for their patience in awaiting their bookings. We have fully booked theWitches of Winchester walkthrough on October 31.

"We usually host a Halloween indoor display but we have decided to move everything outside and families have a 15 minute booking slot to have a look around - it is one family at a time and one household can't be more than six people.

"It has been one heck of a year and we have been working out how we could do our Halloween celebration for the community while keeping everyone safe. It's been tricky, but we think we have a good plan in place!

"The Witches of Winchester has plenty of frightening elements for all ages.

"We have plenty of room and the area will be lit with eco-friendly LED stage lighting, setting the mood around some animatronic surprises we have in store."

The visual feast is the brainchild of Cameron, 26, who uses his creative talents to bring his vision to life.

He said: "I have always thought of October 31 as a very special celebration - and this year it will be even more so given the lack of entertainment and events that are happening."

Last year, the Clarks produced a stunning Christmas celebration at their house using 150,000 LED lights, and this year have plans to move the festive spectacular outdoors too.
