The First Minister has confirmed that North Ayrshire will remain in level three restrictions for the next week.

Nicola Sturgeon said that there would be no change across the country to restriction levels, but said there may be a more significant change next week.

The First Minister said: "Restrictions in place are having a positive impact, but the level of virus overall, particulary in some parts is still higher than we need it to be.

"As we go deeper into the winter period, a number of factors may push transmission up again."

The rate of coronavirus cases have fallen dramatically across Largs and the surrounding area over the last week, and have dipped slightly across the whole of North Ayrshire.

In the past 24 hours, more than 750 positive cases of the virus were confirmed, as well as a further 34 deaths.
