ScotRail’s fleet of Class 380 electric trains, which cover the Largs and Wemyss Bay lines, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary... and are receiving a 'makeover'.
Over the last decade they have carried out almost 125 million passenger journeys which have clocked up nearly 50 million miles around the country.
The transformation includes new seat upholstery, a paint refresh, the installation of new flooring, and general repairs to tables, bins and handrails.
Class 380s were introduced in December 2010, operating in Ayrshire and Inverclyde initially.
Syeda Ghufran, ScotRail Engineering Director, said: “These trains are the real workhorses of Scotland’s Railway. It’s amazing to think they have clocked up almost 50 million miles during the last 10 years.
“Since their introduction, the Class 380s have been incredibly popular and their interior face-lift will help make rail travel a more modern, comfortable and popular option for customers.”
