MP Patricia Gibson has urged everyone who is able to in Largs and Millport and surrounding area to take up the Covid19 vaccine when it becomes available.

Speaking at a debate on the rollout of the Covid19 vaccination, Patricia highlighted the tremendous impact vaccinations have had on the health and wellbeing of our societies, saving tens of millions of lives throughout the world, with this vaccine providing a chance to end the Covid19 pandemic.

She also highlighted that there are no plans from either the Scottish or UK Governments to make this vaccine mandatory.

Patricia said: "I am very optimistic that uptake will be very high, given the high levels of compliance with Covid19 restrictions since the beginning of the pandemic.

"There is also a high uptake of vaccinations against seasonal flu amongst eligible groups, as well as a high uptake from parents who ensure their children are vaccinated against terrible diseases such as hepatitis B, polio, tetanus and whooping cough.

"This vaccine has come about so quickly not because corners have been cut, but because of the overwhelming financial and scientific resources invested in its development, given the devastating impact Covid19 has had throughout the world.

"I hope as many people as possible will take up the opportunity to be vaccinated, so we can bring an end to the pandemic.
