The freezing cold conditions resulted in the surprising sight of a game of ice hockey taking place in a field near Hunterston Estate on Sunday.
Passers by were amazed to see a group of five complete with ice hockey goals and equipment - and were all prepared for the icy conditions.
There was even a goalkeeper dressed up in full protective equipment as face off signalled the start of play.
With Glasgow Clan ice hockey team out of action due to the pandemic, and all other ice hockey teams for that matter, it was a rare opportunity for some play out in the open.
It is not the first time that the game has been played in the ice rink like conditions, with play taking place in Douglas Park in Largs during the big freeze back in 2013.
