Some of Largs town centre's usually busy shopping area has been ground to a halt by roadworks during the past week.

Tron Place and Gateside Street have both been littered with road signs and digging outside of premises.

However, it has not stopped shoppers going to essential premises which have stayed open such as C Fayre and Gavin's Ironmongers, while the access to the Royal Mail delivery office has also been maintained during the duration.

The excavation works are being carried out by Scottish Power Energy Networks for a street lighting fault.

The works began on January 11 and are scheduled for ten working days.

Councillor Ian Murdoch told the News that he was seeking assurance that the works would be completed by the end of tomorrow.
