IT is vaccinations day on the Isle of Cumbrae this Saturday after the major logistical exercise was brought forward by 11 days.

The First Minister met with NHS Ayrshire & Arran Chief Executive John Burns yesterday afternoon to press for an earlier delivery of the vaccination programme in Ayrshire, which was agreed to.

All people aged 65 to 79 in Ayrshire will now be vaccinated by 14 February as promised.

Kenneth Gibson MSP said: "The vaccination of Cumbrae residents in groups 1-5 will now be vaccinated in the DA Hall on Saturday 6 February, 11 days earlier than originally scheduled.

"Needless to say I am delighted that the vaccination programme for constituents aged 65-79 will be completed on schedule and that Cumbrae islanders in the five most vulnerable categories will be vaccinated 11 days earlier than scheduled."
