A landslip near Southannan at Fairlie has spilled out across railway line as a clear-up operation is underway with Network Rail teams currently on site.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We’re dealing with two significant landslips between Ardrossan and Largs.

"Our teams are assessing the damage at both sites now. We don’t have an estimate for the line to reopen at the moment. We’ll keep you posted."

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

Fairlie resident Billy Kirkwood alerted the News this morning to the incident and said: "There has been a major landslide to the rear of Southannan, the railway line is beneath it. There is no damage to any property. The railway line is below the landslip."

The dreadful weather over recent days has seen burns burst their banks locally with heavy flooding in some areas of Fairlie including Keppenburn Avenue and Montgomerie Drive with emergency sand bags having to be provided, and Largs Community Resilience Teams also attending the village to help battle against some of the flooding.
