SCHOOL staff and senior pupils in North Ayrshire will be offered regular Covid-19 testing starting later this month.

This initiative was part of a package of school safety measures originally proposed by local MSP Ross Greer on behalf of Scottish Greens in June.

The First Minister recently announced the return of nursery and P1-3 pupils from February 22, followed by S4-6 pupils who need to attend for essential practical work,

School staff and senior pupils would be offered twice weekly at-home testing to help keep schools as safe as possible.

The Green MSP says the new testing schedule is good news, and hopes it gives some reassurance to staff and parents in North Ayrshire.

He said: "I hope this announcement has provided some reassurance to pupils, families and school staff across North Ayrshire."
